The athletes pre-selected by the Angolan Swimming Federation who train in Portugal and fight for access to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Pedro Pinotes, Henrique Mascarenhas and Daniel Francisco will participate in a competition organized by the Swimming Association of Coimbra / Portugal, taking place on the 27th and 28th of March in Coimbra.

In addition to the pre-selected, three more Angolan athletes will participate in the event, namely Maria Lopes, João Gonçalves and João Duarte.

Prior to the sporting event, a cooperation agreement will be signed between the Angolan Swimming Federation and its Portuguese counterpart, which will be witnessed by the Angolan Ambassador to Portugal Mr. Carlos Fonseca.

This protocol will allow the beginning of the process of recognition, validation and certification of skills of Angolan coaches, followed by training and certifications of coaches and judges of pure swimming and water polo, training stages. training of Angolan athletes in high performance centers in Portugal, administrative support among other advantages.

It should be noted that under this cooperation between the Portuguese Federation and the newly elected board of the Angolan Swimming Federation, the athletes Daniel Francisco, Henrique Mascarenhas and Maria Lopes, were admitted in January 2021 as interns, at the high performance center of Rio Maior.
