The newly elected CANA Bureau held its first meeting on Saturday 19 December 2020. The Bureau members considered a number of items in preparation for 2021.
President Sam Ramsamy proposed that the CANA representation to FINA should represent all the Zones of CANA. The Bureau unanimously accepted the following nominations for the FINA General Congress scheduled for 5th June 2021 in Doha, Qatar:
FINA Vice President: Dr Sam Ramsamy (South Africa)
FINA Bureau Member: Dr Mohamed Diop (Senegal)
FINA Bureau Member: Dr Donald Rukare (Uganda)
Delegates from over 40 countries gathered today (12 December 2020) for the virtual General Congress of the African Swimming Confederation (CANA). The Congress originally scheduled for April 2020 in Durban, South Africa had to be postponed due the global COVID pandemic. The Congress was held on the 50th anniversary of CANA, which was formed in Cairo, Egypt in November 1970.

The 2020 SA National Short Course Championships concluded today with a total of 5 athletes swimming 10 FINA Qualification times
Pietermaritzburg, Tuesday, 27th October 2020 – The SA National Short Course Swimming Championships successfully concluded today with 5 athletes swimming a total of 10 FINA Qualification times during the four-day competition, which was held at the Seals Swim Centre in Pietermaritzburg.
